Finally, after about 200 hours of work over a year and a half, I've finished this afghan! This was a graduation gift for my cousin, who graduated May 21. A bit late, but better late than never! The color combination is an homage to Lisa Frank, which is hugely nostalgic for both my cousin and me. We adored Lisa Frank when we were kids in the late 80s/early 90s.
I did make a number of modifications to the pattern, but only after the center medallions and corner motifs were already completed per the pattern instructions. I will blog the specifics sometime later, for those who are interested!
Caron Simply Soft (Charcoal Heather, Raspberry, Watermelon, Mango, Lemonade, Limelight, Blue Mint), size G hook, 2.5 yards of zebra-print fleece for the backing, and loads of patience.
Usually afghans look so dated, this one is beautifully layered and very modern, definitely not your grandma's kinda blanket. The year and a half you put into it really shows and was well worth the effort.
