Stained Glass Window Afghan by radioactive-orchid Stained Glass Window Afghan by radioactive-orchid
Finally, after about 200 hours of work over a year and a half, I've finished this afghan! This was a graduation gift for my cousin, who graduated May 21. A bit late, but better late than never! The color combination is an homage to Lisa Frank, which is hugely nostalgic for both my cousin and me. We adored Lisa Frank when we were kids in the late 80s/early 90s.

I did make a number of modifications to the pattern, but only after the center medallions and corner motifs were already completed per the pattern instructions. I will blog the specifics sometime later, for those who are interested!

-------------
The pattern is the Stained Glass Window Afghan by Melody MacDuffee from 50 Sensational Crochet Afghans and Throws. The finished afghan is 52" by 62"

Caron Simply Soft (Charcoal Heather, Raspberry, Watermelon, Mango, Lemonade, Limelight, Blue Mint), size G hook, 2.5 yards of zebra-print fleece for the backing, and loads of patience.

Usually afghans look so dated, this one is beautifully layered and very modern, definitely not your grandma's kinda blanket. The year and a half you put into it really shows and was well worth the effort.

Oh, my goodness! This is absolutely beautiful. You've done a wonderful job!

(I have to say, don't feel bad about it taking a year and a half! =) I made a king-sized sampler afghan, 7 squares by 9, that took me seven plus years to finish.)

Thank you! It's definitely the most time-intensive project I've done... but also the first afghan. Possibly the last, I don't know if I have the patience for any more :P

This is flippin' awesome. I loved Lisa Frank as a kid so double awesome. I don't know how you found the patience to work on something for a year and a half but looks like it certainly paid off!!! :)

Thank you! I definitely put it away for months at a time because I got sick of looking at it, but somehow bit the bullet and finished it!

I think I may try something like this if, and when, I find some extra time for it. I was telling my mom about it this evening. I was trying to conjure up smaller projects to apply the concept to, though, to avoid making an afghan! Lol. I don't know if I'd ever find the time to finish it!! Definite props to you and thanks for the inspiration as well. If I come up with anything interesting I'll be coming back here to share and give credit! :)
